Fire Burning in Cochise County

The Mule Pass Fire is burning northwest of Bisbee. The Arizona Daily Star isn’t reporting on it.  But KGUN9 is following it– I’d check there for updates. They’re reporting that it’s, thankfully, heading AWAY from Bisbee.

We got word that the Red Cross was preparing to open a shelter for evacuees — some homes remain evacuated, and some have been cleared. None have been burned.

FEMA has issued a fire management assistance declaration — this means that the state can be reumbursed up to 75% of the cost of fighting/containing this fire.

It looks good — 40% contained, away from homes, etc. Luck? Quick, skilled firefighting? Probably some of both. They’re still fighting. Stay tuned and be careful.
